Available to start September 2015The Educational Assistant, under the direction of the Principal and/or
classroom teacher, will assist in the implementation of pupil programs
and services.Qualifications and Experience Required:
- post secondary diploma; DSW, SSW; however, related post secondary
education with considerable related experience will also be considered;
- experience with autism spectrum disorders and related behavioural
difficulties preferred;
- knowledge of augmentative communication systems an asset;
- supervising and implementing daily routines coordinated by the itinerant
high needs teacher;
- implementing teacher designed and supervised instructional programs;
- communicating effectively with teachers and students relative to educational
assistant duties;
- working effectively as part of many school teams;
- working in a flexible and independent manner.

1238 Temporary Casual employees; however first consideration is given

Primary Duties:
- In accordance with the regulations of the Day Nurseries Act and under
the general supervision of the Daycare Supervisor, the Daycare Teaching
Assistant will be responsible for the supervision of children within
the program at Oakwood Preschool Centre and will assist in the delivery
of programs, maintaining daily operations, and perform other duties
as assigned.
Requirements:
- Grade 12 Diploma;
- Minimum of 3 years’ related experience working with children (infant,
toddlers, and pre-schoolers to 7 years of age).
- Valid First Aid Certificate and Infant/Child CPR;
- Must possess superior interpersonal, communication, organization,
and customer service skills;
- Able to relate compassionately with children;
- Must be reliable and work effectively in a team environment;
- Must be in good physical condition, lifting required;
- Available for work on short notice and able to work flexible hours;
