Welcome to the Onip.online Mentoring Program
What do we do?
The Onip.online Mentoring Program matches internationally-trained professional
newcomers (mentees) with individuals who have a strong background in the same professional
field coupled with years of Canadian experience (mentors). Our
mentors provide information on labour market trends, accreditation and
licensing procedures, and offer support and guidance to help newcomers make
informed career choices leading to suitable employment.
How can the Onip.online Mentoring Program help?
An increasing number of newcomers settling in the province of Ontario are
highly- skilled professionals who are unable to find suitable employment.
They face significant barriers due to the nature of Ontario's accreditation
and licensing procedures, employment practices, limited knowledge of local
industries and employment practices, lack of networks and contacts, and lack
of knowledge of Canadian workplace culture.
Mentoring is a proven effective way of helping newcomers overcome these challenges.
Onip.online offers a web-based mentoring service for internationally-trained
professional newcomers (ITPs) to facilitate their access to their professions
and trades.
How does the program work?
- The Mentoring Program is entirely web-based and all communication takes
place electronically.
- Clients are accepted into the program through referrals by agencies working
with ITPs in Ontario.
-
Matches are made based on the professional background of the mentor
and mentee.
Service providers
Agencies in Ontario working to support internationally-trained professional
newcomers can refer clients who meet the intake
criteria.
